Here it is! Red Corvette convertible 6-speed – Hot! Hot! Hot!

A red Corvette convertible – the quintessential American sports car. Now you can own this awesome, head-turning ‘Vette for less money than you’ll pay for a new, stripped-down, piece-of-crap bottom-of-the-line automobile. And just in time for all those months of top-down cruising weather.

This is a 1990 Corvette with fewer than 87,000 miles. It runs and handles like new. I’ve never driven it in the rain and I don’t think the previous owners did either. It gets 18 to 20 miles per gallon. The 350 Chevy motor sounds extra mean thanks to tuned dual exhaust. The brakes are excellent.

I’ve owned this beauty for 18 months. (I’m the third owner.) People actually stare when it goes by.

Here’s what you get with this gorgeous sports/muscle car:

1) A brand new set of tires;
2) Sharp new Chevrolet Racing rubber floor mats;
3) A new black bra to keep nicks to a minimum;
4) Factory Bose stereo and tuner unit, which I haven’t installed. It needs a wiring harness that goes between the tuner and the stereo;
5) A brand new heater core (installed);
6) A CAGS “Skip Shift” plug seal kit. “What the heck is that?” you ask. To squeak past the gas guzzler tax in 1990, Corvette engineers designed a “First-Gear-to-Fourth” feature which “encouraged” the driver to shift from first to fourth gear at light throttle speeds. Otherwise, there is a tendency to grind second gear unless you’re accelerating fairly briskly. The skip shift plug, has eliminated the shifting difficulty.

7) A GMP CFS Series Cooling Fan Control. Again – Huh? And again, Corvette engineers set the cooling system controls to run a little hotter than is prudent for reasons relating to emission containment. This causes the car to run hot after awhile in stop-and-go traffic. You can bring the temperature down by turning on the air conditioner, but come ON!!!!! How does that save gas OR emissions? Anyway, this device, which I’m installing, allows the car to run cooler and still pass emissions requirements.

8) A factory repair manual;

9) A Chilton’s repair manual on computer disc;

10) A like-new owner’s manual;

11) Promotional literature such as original dealer brochures.

Here are a few things the car could use:

1) The horn doesn’t work. I’m sure it’s a quick fix. I’ve never had need of the horn when I’m driving, but if you don’t honk when people wave at your hot car, they think you’re stuck-up. Don’t want that.

2) The headlights are the type that recede into the hood when turned off, but the left one doesn’t work. I bought a replacement motor unit but never installed it. I also found out you can buy the little headlight retracting motors from Eckler’s Corvette for about $40, not the $400 or so it would cost to replace the entire unit. I just drive the car with the headlights up.

3) Heater control repair – When I got the car, the AC worked great, but not the heater. Turned out the heater core was disconnected, which our mechanic determined was because the core needed to be replaced and a previous owner had simply bypassed it. The mechanic installed a new heater core ($500), but the heater still didn’t work. Turns out a little baffle in the guts of the controls wasn’t working properly. They discovered this AFTER the heater core was installed, and said they’d have to go back in again and fix it. Estimated cost: $400. I’ve only wanted to use the heater a couple of times, and the AC still works great.

4) The top (which I think is original) is still good, though you might want to freshen up the car with a new one. I wouldn’t mess with it, but you might want to. I’ve replaced the rear window.

That pretty much describes the whole thing. I still really like this Corvette, but I can use the money for other things. I’ve only put a few thousand miles on it since I bought it.

So, here ya go. I’ve kept it fresh for you all winter and now it’s your turn to have some fun in the sun with it. You can reach me at goodbuys4you@yahoo.com , 209-786-3989 or on my cell phone at 916-765-5368.
